Amy and Scott’s wedding at Cooling Castle Barn in Kent was a relaxed and well-paced day, photographed by Tunbridge Wells Studios. Cooling Castle is one of Kent’s most popular wedding venues, known for its historic setting, open courtyard and separate ceremony and reception spaces, which allow the day to flow smoothly without feeling rushed.

The ceremony took place in the indoor barn, which offers soft, even light throughout the day and works particularly well for natural wedding photography. The layout allows guests to stay fully engaged while still giving plenty of room to move discreetly, making it ideal for capturing candid moments during the ceremony. Amy and Scott chose to keep things simple, focusing on spending time with family and friends rather than following a strict schedule.

After the ceremony, guests moved into the courtyard for drinks while portraits were taken around the grounds. Cooling Castle Barn offers a variety of backdrops within a short walking distance, from the stone walls and archways to open green spaces that work well for relaxed couple portraits. This makes it easy to create a varied wedding gallery without taking the couple away from their guests for long periods of time.

The reception took place back inside the barn, with speeches, dinner and evening celebrations all held in the same space. This is one of the strengths of Cooling Castle as a wedding venue, particularly for couples who want a straightforward, well-organised day. As a Kent wedding photographer, working at venues that are designed with weddings in mind allows the focus to stay on documenting the moments as they happen rather than managing logistics.

Amy and Scott were keen for their wedding photography to feel natural and reflective of the day rather than overly posed, which suited the venue and the pace of the wedding perfectly.
