How to Choose the Right Wedding Photography Package in Kent and Sussex
Choosing your wedding photography package is largely about deciding which parts of your day you want captured. Some couples want coverage of the ceremony and a few hours of celebrations, while others want their photographs to tell the story of the day from the preparations through to the first dance.
At Tunbridge Wells Studios, I offer three wedding photography packages, with different coverage times to suit different plans and budgets. I photograph weddings throughout Kent and Sussex, combining candid moments with more considered portraits to create a varied record of the day.
This guide explains what to consider when choosing your package, how much coverage you might need, and how to make the most of your wedding photography budget.
How Much Wedding Photography Coverage Do You Need?
Before comparing prices, think about the moments you would most like to remember. Your ceremony, family photographs, drinks reception and speeches might be the priorities, or you may also want photographs of getting ready, the wedding breakfast, cake cutting and first dance.
Your wedding timeline is a useful starting point. Ask your venue for an idea of how the day is likely to run, including the ceremony time, drinks reception, wedding breakfast and evening celebrations. This will help you decide how many hours of photography you need.
It's also worth considering whether there are any particular moments that matter to you. Perhaps you want photographs of your preparations, a group photograph of everyone attending, or time set aside for portraits together. Allowing for these in advance helps ensure your chosen package fits the day.
Comparing the Wedding Photography Packages
I offer three main wedding photography packages, providing different levels of coverage for weddings in Kent, East Sussex and West Sussex.
Gold Package — £700
The Gold package includes up to four hours of wedding photography. It's an option for couples looking for focused coverage of the main part of their day without booking a full day.
Four hours can work well when the ceremony and celebrations are scheduled relatively close together. Depending on your timings, coverage can include the ceremony, couple and family photographs, and the drinks reception or beginning of the wedding breakfast.
It's important to plan the timing carefully so that the photographs you value most fit comfortably into the available coverage.
Diamond Package — £900
The Diamond package provides up to six hours of photography and includes coverage through to the cake cutting and first dance.
This gives you more time to capture the progression of the day, from the ceremony and group photographs through to the celebrations afterwards. It's a useful middle option for couples who want a broader record of their wedding without opting for the longest package.
If you want photographs of the atmosphere during the reception as well as the main formal moments, the additional coverage can make a real difference to how much of the day is documented.
Platinum Package — £1,100
The Platinum package offers up to eight hours of photography, giving you the flexibility to cover more of your wedding day.
Depending on your schedule, this can include preparations before the ceremony, the ceremony itself, couple and family portraits, the drinks reception, wedding breakfast, speeches and evening celebrations.
For couples who want their photographs to tell a fuller story, the longer coverage provides more opportunity to capture the details, interactions and unplanned moments that might otherwise be missed.
Which Package Is Right for Your Wedding?
The best package depends on your plans rather than simply how long you expect to be at the venue.
For a smaller wedding or a celebration with a relatively short schedule, four hours may be sufficient. If you want to include the first dance and cake cutting, six hours gives you more room. If preparations and a wider range of moments are important to you, eight hours may be the better fit.
Travel between locations, the number of guests and the timing of your ceremony can also influence how much coverage is needed. For example, if preparations take place at a different location from the ceremony, allow for that when planning the start time.
If you're unsure, we can discuss your plans during a consultation and work out which option is most suitable.
What Is Included in Your Wedding Photography?
Whichever main package you choose, the aim is to give you a collection of photographs that captures the people, atmosphere and key moments of your wedding.
Your images are carefully edited and supplied in both high and low resolution, in colour and black and white. They are delivered through a password-protected online gallery, where you can view, download and share them with family and friends.
I don't provide an in-house printing service, but you are free to arrange your own prints and albums using the photographs you receive.
You'll also have the opportunity to discuss your plans with me before the wedding, either over Zoom or face to face. This is a chance to go through your timeline, talk about any specific photographs you would like, and make sure we're clear about how you want the day covered.
A Mix of Candid Moments and Portraits
When choosing a wedding photographer, it's worth considering not only the number of hours you need but also the style of photographs you want.
My approach combines candid photography with more considered portraits. I look for natural interactions between couples and their guests, as well as setting aside time for couple and family photographs.
The aim is to give you a mixture of images: photographs that capture what happened naturally throughout the day, alongside portraits where a little direction helps make the most of the setting and available light.
You can see examples in my Kent and Sussex wedding photography stories, featuring real weddings photographed at a range of venues across the region.
When Will You Receive Your Wedding Photographs?
After the wedding, your images are edited and prepared for your online gallery. My usual turnaround is around four weeks, so you won't have to wait months to see the complete collection.
The gallery allows you to revisit the day, download your photographs and share them with friends and family. Having the images in digital format also gives you the freedom to choose how you would like to display and print them.
